COLUMBIA CITY â A legend in Columbia Cityâs boys basketball was present at the Eaglesâ game against Northrop Saturday.
Bill Schwarz, a 1960 graduate and CCHS basketballâs all-time leading scorer, traveled to the Donald S. Weeks gymnasium from his home in Chicago for Columbia Cityâs senior night.
The Eaglesâ senior night had special meaning, as two Columbia City players are the closest to Schwarzâs record that any hoopster has been since 1977.
âI really donât care that much about the amount of points scored,â Schwarz said. âWhat Iâm really liking is the fact that these kids are well versed in the meaning of the game. Every one of them is pleasant. Thereâs no egos involved.
âTheyâre good in the classroom, theyâre good peers and theyâre good people. Thatâs what itâs all about.â
