Blanche Ernst, 91

Blanche Marie Ernst, 91, of Columbia City, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at Miller’s Merry Manor Inc., Columbia City.
Born Dec. 24, 1920 in Tallmadge, Summit County, Ohio, she was the daughter of William H. and Helen L. (Baum) Mohler.
As a young child, she lived in Ohio. She graduated from Coesse High School where she played on the girls basketball team.
She married Floyd R. Ernst on Oct. 11, 1941, in Columbia City. For more than 50 years she resided at Loon Lake. A homemaker, she also worked and retired from Viking Corporation, and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Columbia City.
Surviving relatives include her two daughters, Jeanne DeRemer of Columbia City and Janet (Richard) Frederick of Bradford, Pa. and one grandson, Richard DeRemer of Columbia City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd R. Ernst on Feb. 2, 1976; brother, Elmer Mohler; an infant brother, Junior Mohler and one sister, Eleanor Armold Stouder.
Visitation will be held Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City.
The funeral service will immediately follow calling Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Philip R. Rittner II of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at Greenhill Cemetery, Columbia City. Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Ernst’s memory to Whitley County Humane Shelter or Parkview Whitley Home Health Care and Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
