COLUMBIA CITY — Work on Columbia City’s Blue River Trail is so close to completion that residents may believe it is already finished.

However, Columbia City Park Director Mark Green said asphalt is still needed on parts of the bridge and along the trail.

“They have been working on it for the past six weeks,” Green said. “It looks like it’s done, but they have more to do in the spring.”

Presently, construction is stalled until spring, but Green believes the project will be finished by the end of the school year.

“As of right now, the signs say closed until spring of 2013,” Green said, noting that those signs should not be up for too many more months.
