Board to act on reducing 27 WCCS jobs

COLUMBIA CITY — The Whitley County Consolidated School Corporation’s Board of School Trustees will have hard decisions to make Monday when the nine-person board meets in regular session.
Looming on the agenda, in the wake of the recently signed five-year teachers contract, reduction in force.
Corporation Superintendent Dr. Patricia O’Connor and Business Manager Tony Zickgraf have read the writing on the wall and in recent weeks reported to the board about expected budget shortfalls.
The two administrators drafted a plan designed to keep the corporation in the black, but were unable to balance the books without eliminating corporation personnel.
