BOARD MEMBER RESIGNING: Bechtold to resign from WCCS school board

July 8, 2013

Chris Bechtold

COLUMBIA CITY — Whitley County Consolidated Schools will be losing a Board of Trustees member within the next month.

Chris Bechtold, one of the three board members representing the city of Columbia City, will resign because he is taking a teaching position within the district in the 2013-14 school year.

Bechtold will teach math, physics and engineering at Eagle Tech Academy this fall. As per board by-laws, he will be required to resign his position from the board of trustees.

“This is a win-win for our school corporation,” said WCCS Superintendent Dr. Pat O’Connor. “We are sorry to lose him as a board member, but we gain him as a teacher, and he will be an excellent, committed teacher.”

Protocol for replacing a departed member consists of residents submitting their interest, in writing, to the superintendent, according to WCCS Board By-Law 0142.3.

After that, the remaining eight board members will vote in the newest member.
