Bob Bowman, 75

August 22, 2011

Bob Bowman, 75, passed away Monday, Aug. 15, 2011.
He was born March 5, 1936, in Hammond and graduated from Crown Point High School in 1954.
He saw much of the world while spending four years in the U.S. Navy as a musician and much later as a dance host on cruise ships.
He worked for NIPSCO for 33 years, first as a combination pipeline welder and then 26 years as a gas serviceman.
He was a member of the Elks, Eagles, Moose, VFW, and American Legion Post #296.
He said that any place that offered camaraderie, good food and drinks and a large dance floor was where he wanted to be.
He loved traveling, golfing, bowling, ballroom dancing, and bridge, becoming a life master.
He read voraciously, both fiction and non-fiction, but truly loved astronomy and world history, both recent and ancient.
He was diagnosed with incurable pancreatic cancer in early 2011 and accepted his fate readily. He lived a long and happy charmed life.
He leaves behind a loving family, children, Julie Bowman, Dennis (Jeri) Bowman, Jeff Bowman, Cassie Bowman, Pete (Billie) Bowman; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many friends.
