BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: WCCS Supt. says parents were told of needle incident

May 18, 2012

COLUMBIA CITY — While local police investigate a student at Indian Springs Middle School who allegedly stabbed numerous middle-schoolers with a sewing needle, the top official at Whitley County Consolidated School Corporation says the school district acted pro-actively to the incident.
“Parents were notified immediately, as soon as we found out,” said Dr. Patricia O'Connor, adding the student suspected of poking his fellow pupils “will not be back in school.” She added that the school corporation coordinated with the Whitley County Health Department regarding the vaccination records of potential victims.
O'Connor said parents received, not one, but two letters from the school corporation regarding the incident.
