BREAKING: Pedestrian struck, killed on Ind. 205

March 12, 2014

COLUMBIA CITY — A 69-year-old man was killed Wednesday when he was struck by a car.

Police say Marvin Kinney, of Whitley County, was shoveling snow at the end of his driveway, located at 6007 E. Ind. 205, near Johnson Road.

A vehicle headed northeast on Ind. 205 lost control and slid into him. He was transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle, Roger Rice, 41, of Fort Wayne, was not injured in the incident. His vehicle sustained approximately $2,000 damage. Rice was cited for driving left of center and driving at an unreasonable speed.

Officials say slush and ice on the roads contributed to the crash.
