COLUMBIA CITY â€” Inclement weather Feb. 21 created a bottleneck of issues that will be addressed Monday when the Whitley County Consolidated School Corporationâ€™s Board of School Trustees meets in regular session.
Snowfall and freezing temperatures caused the corporation to cancel its Feb. 21 meeting â€” a session that promised to be heavily attended as staff and faculty corporation-wide await recommendations and decisions regarding the upcoming budget.
â€śI would expect there will be several people attending,â€ť said Anthony Zickgraf, the corporationâ€™s business manager.
At its regular meeting Feb. 7, Superintendent Dr. Patricia Oâ€™Connor supplied the board with a large number of potential â€śbudget-savingâ€ť measures in order to combat a steady decline in the school systemâ€™s general fund.
Since that meeting, Oâ€™Connor has adjusted the recommendations, which will be presented to the board Monday.
â€śItâ€™s a painful process right now,â€ť Zickgraf said.
Among action items scheduled to go in front of the board, according to Zickgraf, the panel will vote on a new wheelchair lift for the high school, student handbooks, all-day kindergarten and tuition charges for pre-schoolers.
Zickgraf also said there will be some new equipment purchases for the school corporationâ€™s Eagle Tech school that will be decided.
The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Marshall Community Center on North Walnut Street.
