’Busco boys, girls track compete in NECC meet

CHURUBUSCO — Churubusco’s boys and girls track teams hosted the Northeast Corner Conference meet Friday night.

The boys team placed third out of 10 teams, and the girls came in fourth.
Fairfield was the boys NECC title winner, while Westview received the honors for the girls.

Churubusco continued to control the throwing events, with Heather Monk taking first-team all-conference in both the shot put and discus. Monk’s sister, Katie, got second in the discus and third in the shot put.

Austin McClure dominated the boys throws, winning the discus and taking second in the shot put.

Payton Summers contributed to the Lady Eagles with a first-team all-conference placing in the 100-meter dash and fourth in the 200 dash.

Alex Zolman posted another strong meet, winning the 400-meter dash, placing second in the long jump and taking fifth in the 100 dash.

Josh LeFever took third in both hurdle events.

Layne Fulk tied with two other jumpers for fourth place in the high jump.
