CHURUBUSCO — Sometimes contests are decided early.
Occasionally, games are considered “over” at halftime.
Tuesday night’s basketball game between host Churubusco and the Manchester Squires was decided after the first quarter, as the Eagles used a tight defense and a patient offense to gain a 16-point lead in the first quarter to catapult their way to a 57-25 win.
“We talked about being focused,” said Eagle Head Coach Michael McBride. “They came out, not doing anything fancy, just good hard man-to-man defense and good execution offensively.”
Led by four first quarter blocks by 6-foot 8-inch senior Tyler Arrowsmith, the Eagles held the Squires to 1-of-10 shooting from the field and two free throws.
“I thought our seniors did a nice job in the first quarter,” McBride said.
