MONROEVILLE â€” The Churubusco boys and girls track and field teams left Heritage High School 2-0 for the day, with the boys winning by 37 points and the girls taking the meet by 27.
For the boys, Alex Zolman finished in first place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.5 seconds. Zolman also placed first in the 400-meter (53.9) and the long jump with a distance of 19 feet-10.5 inches.
The other Eagle coming in first was Austin McClure, with a distance of 50.5 feet in the shot put and over 150 feet in the discus. The â€˜Busco girls placed three competitors in first, most notably Heather Monk, who set a new school record in the shot put with a distance of 40 feet-1 inch.
Monk then went on to break her own school record in the discus.
The record was short lived however, as her sister Katie Monk broke the record on the very next throw.
Danielle Pippenger finished in first place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.8 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 52.2.
Lady Eagle Payton Summers, with a time of 12.7, came in first in the 100-meter dash.
Summers also placed first in the 200 dash (28.3). The final score for the boys was 80-43, while the girls beat out Heritage 75-48.
Both teams will be back in action versus both intra-county rivals Columbia City and Whitko Thursday in Columbia City.View more articles in:
