CHURUBUSCO — Churubusco’s volleyball team fell to visiting Heritage Tuesday in four sets on senior night.

Despite the defeat, the Lady Eagles end the regular season above .500 at 15-13.

Conference play looms Saturday, though, and the postseason tournament begins next week.

Against the Lady Patriots, Churubusco Head Volleyball Coach Trinda Goings said her team played better as the match went longer.

“We played with more confidence as the night went along,” she said.
Heritage won by a final of 25-17, 25-9, 26-24 and 25-23.

The visitors took advantage of big leads to grab victory in the first two sets. The Lady Patriots had a 6-0 lead in the first before ’Busco registered a point. In the second, Heritage built a 23-4 edge before the set reached its final margin.

“They got on a run in the second set,” Goings said. ‘Heritage is a good team, and they were blocking well.”

In the third set, Churubusco clawed back, erasing a 16-10 deficit to take the win in that one.
