TOPEKA â Churubusco Head Coach Mike McBride said the Eagle schedule to start the season is a difficult one.
It didnât get any easier Friday when âBusco traveled to Westview High School and lost to the Warriors, 47-31.
Westview player Brant Yoder, who had 17 points in the game, hit a two-pointer with just under two minutes left and âBusco went into the locker room trailing 19-11 at the half.
With 1:15 left to go in the third, LeFever fouled out of the game.
The Eagle deficit had grown even farther; the third period ended with the score 34-21 in favor of the Warriors.
âBusco began to close the gap in the fourth.
In the first three minutes of the quarter, the Eagles went 6-for-8 from the charity stripe.
Overall, they finished at 61 percent from the line, going 14-23.
Unfortunately, âBusco was not the only team getting free opportunities from 15 feet out.
Over the final five minutes, Westview continued to grow its lead, hitting 5 of its 9 free throws.
Arrowsmith and Chris Jones led the team with nine points.
The end result was Westview defeating Churubusco 47-31.
