’Busco girls earn NECC title

Churubusco’s girls track team took home the Northeast Corner Conference title Friday night at Fairfield. The Lady Eagles took the win with 107 points, 11 points ahead of second-place Westview. Sectional action begins this week.

Churubusco’s track teams faired well in the Northeast Corner Conference meet Friday night at Fairfield.

The Lady Eagles took home the girls’ title, while the boys placed second to Lakeland.

The Lady Eagles won the meet with outstanding performances from athletes such as Danielle Pippenger and Katie Monk.

Pippenger won the 100-meter hurdles, long jump, high jump, and placed second in the 300-meter hurdles to earn 38 of Churubusco’s 107 points.

Monk won both of her events, the shot put and discus, to earn 20 points.
The boys had strong performances as well.
