CHURUBUSCO — Churubusco’s girls tennis team begain its season with a loss Wednesday.
The Lady Eagles faced Fort Wayne South Side and was shut out 5-0.
In No. 1 singles, Senior Morgan Young was defeated by South Side’s Norene Namani, 6-0, 6-1.
Churubusco’s Nikki Essingler lost 6-1, 6-1 to Mary Downelly in the No. 2 singles match. In No. 3 singles, Lady Eagle Kayleen Mitchell was defeated by Zin Naing, 6-2, 6-3.
In the No. 1 doubles match, Madi Cook and Maggie Kitt lost 6-2, 6-0 to Rachel Klotz and Madison Long of South Side. Lady Archers Morgan Clarbe and Alysia Buffenburger beat Aaliyah Hensinger and Katee Baxter in the No. 2 doubles match.
The junior varsity team was also blanked, 3-0, by South Side.
The Lady Eagles take a break for spring break before traveling to Northrop April 9.
