’Cats take 10-4 win

April 23, 2013

NEW HAVEN — Whitko’s baseball team rebounded from a tough loss to Northeast Hoosier Conference Norwell Saturday to top fellow NHC competition, New Haven, Monday night.

The Wildcats posted a strong fifth inning en route to a 10-4 win at New Haven, improving their record to 8-4.

The opening innings were slow offensively, as Whitko scored the only run in the first three frames, while holding the Bulldogs off home plate.

Wildcat Derek Snep scored the opening run off a throwing error by New Haven’s third baseman.

The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard in the fourth frame, as Garrett Mohler scored off a sacrifice fly by his teammate to tie the score at one.

Whitko’s bats got hot in the bottom of the fourth. First, Ryan Weigold got a free ride to home plate, as teammate Wyatt Wolf was walked, giving Whitko its second run.

Then, Snep reached home plate for the second time on the night after a sacrifice fly by Hunter Sroufe.
