CAUTION AHEAD: Col. City trail section needs repair

June 15, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — A section of the Blue River Trail was washed away during recent rainfall.

Park Director Mark Green said repairs will be done this year, but until then he urges residents to use caution. “It’s dangerous,” he said.

The portion of the trail is between the YMCA and Whitley Street. It is located just past the lookout point over the river traveling toward Whitley Street from Morsches Park. “It’s fallen in at least a foot,” Green said.

While Green said the trail would get fixed soon, he is currently waiting on estimates for the project.

He said he is seeking quotes from local firms regarding the cost. Once this information is acquired, he will move forward. Caution cones are currently set up to warn trail travelers of the potential hazard.
