CCPD: New Col. City reserves to be sworn in next week
COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s Police Department recently added three new reserve officers. Jeremy Brice, Heath Fearnow and Anthony Kumfer have joined the force doubling the total reserve officers to six.Columbia City Police Chief Tim Longenbaugh said the three have completed their 40-hour, pre-basic training. Next will be field work.“They have a manual they have to go through. With training officers, investigations, crash reports and case reports all included,” Longenbaugh said.Department officials had been looking to add reserves for some time. Longenbaugh said when new officer Jonathon Stoffel was hired, these reserves were applicants as well.“All three were in our hiring process when we did the full-time hire,” he said. “All three of them were in the final six of that selection process. Through the full-time hiring process we were able to interview each of them and offer them reserve positions.”To read the rest of this story, see the April 15 issue of The Post and Mail.
