Charles D. Holbrook, 84, of Jonesboro and formerly of Columbia City, passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at the Wesley Health Care Center in Marion.
Born Jan. 19, 1930, in Warsaw to the late Angus Fred (Bogie) Holbrook and Fern (Grubbs) Holbrook, he graduated in 1949, from Columbia City High School.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his younger brother, Larry Holbrook and his previous wife, Shirley Ann (Mote) Holbrook Goff.
He is survived by his wife Shirley (Jones) Holbrook of Jonesboro, his children, Cheryl (Don) Bolding of Brunswick, Ga., Julie (Jim) Argerbright of Pierceton, Gary (Donna) Holbrook of Macy; two step-children, Brandy and Jason; sisters, Donna (Everett) Targgart and Marilyn (Frank) Shenfeld both of Columbia City; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Charlie was an avid fisherman and enjoyed singing with the local barbershop quartet.
Visitation will be held at the Needham Story Funeral Home Tuesday, from 5 to 8 p.m., 400 E. Main St., Gas City. The memorial service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m., also at the Needham Story Funeral Home.
