CHILD MOLESTATION: Man charged

June 19, 2014

Hildebrandt

COLUMBIA CITY — A Columbia City man has been charged with molesting.
Donald Hildebrandt, 58, of Columbia City, is facing two counts of child molesting for incidents that happened on two separate occasions at his residence, located on Ind. 109, north of Columbia City.

According to a case report by Whitley County Sheriff Detective Jason Spencer, the child revealed the information to her mother.

The victim told her mother that Hildebrandt was touching her at nap time, and he also had her touch him in inappropriate areas.

The woman immediately reported the incident, and Spencer, along with representatives from the Whitley County Department of Child Services, interviewed the child.

While gathering information on the case, Spencer discovered Hildebrandt had a previous conviction of child molesting and served his sentence with the Indiana Department of Corrections.

Hildebrandt was sentenced in 1986 by the Whitley County Superior Court.
