Chili cook off to raise funds for charity

COLUMBIA CITY — A chili cook off will be held Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Columbia City United Methodist Church, located at 605 N. Forest Parkway, Columbia City.
The cook off is opened to the public. Eleven teams will vie for bragging rights and the Golden Ladle Award.
The event will raise funds for local missions and church ministries. The cost is $5 at the door, per person, to taste all 11 varieties of chili. Included in the cost is a dinner, which is comprised of a grilled cheese sandwich, homemade cookies and beverage.
To vote for a favorite chili recipe, taste-testers will donate a quarter to the group of choice.

•Bowl-a-thon - noon
A bowl-a-thon will be held Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. at Main Bowl, 303 S. Main St. in Columbia City.
The cost is $7 for three games. For children ages four and younger, the cost is $4. Shoes are free.
Those wanting to participate should plan to check in between 10 and 11:30 a.m. Bowling will start at noon.
Five to six people will be allowed per lane, door prizes will be awarded to bowlers and the event will be held in a smoke-free facility.
