Chrubusco improves to 7-0 in NECC

CHURUBUSCO — The Churubusco Eagle wrestling team celebrated Senior Night with a 57-18 win over the visiting Central Noble Cougars.
The Thursday night Northeast Corner Conference win kept the Eagles’ conference record spotless at 7-0 while raising their overall record to 10-3.
Churubusco claimed wins in five of the seven contested varsity matches to go along with six forfeit wins to build an insurmountable lead.
With matches starting at 132 pounds, ‘Busco junior Austin Boggess built a 10-2 first period lead with a takedown, a reversal, and two nearfalls, and then hung on to claim a 15-11 decision over Central Noble’s Alex Collins.
The Cougars came back to take a 6-3 lead with a pinfall win at 138 pounds when Central Noble’s Spencer Richter pinned Eagle senior Clint Bechtold with 1:04 left in the third period.
