Churubusco athlete in finals of national contest after back surgery recovery

CHURUBUSCO — A Churubusco High School freshman is in the finals of an athletic competition.

What makes the story of Stacia Fester more remarkable is that she is doing it while recovering from spinal surgery this year.

The surgery was June 4, and was done to correct a curve in her spine which could eventually threaten her life.
