COLUMBIA CITY — At the county commissioner’s meeting last week, Commissioner Don Amber said he received an email from the town of Churubusco requesting $500 for downtown beautification.
Commissioner Tom Rethlake said the only thing he was concerned about is if some of this money would be designated for town painting and repairs.
“I just don’t want to get to the part where we are buying paint to do windows or putty,” said Rethlake.
Amber said the money could be designated specifically for flowers, and Commissioner Scrumpf agreed with the idea.
Rethlake said he was happy to give the town money to spend on something that is seasonal since they did the same for Columbia City, and he would not be surprised if South Whitley asked for the same amount.
“I would have no problem due to the fact that Columbia City was given $500 this year,” said Rethlake.
The commissioners approved the motion to allocate $500 to the town of Churubusco for flowers.
