LIGONIER — The season started late for Churubusco boys’ basketball but the Eagles first win didn’t take long.
On the road Saturday for the second game of its season, ’Busco wasted no time sealing up a 74-51 win by halftime over West Noble.
After dropping a season opening loss to Columbia City Tuesday, the Eagles hit the road to open the North East Corner Conference schedule.
With the help of three Eagles in double figures, Churubusco went early on the Chargers leading 21-12 after the first quarter.
Senior Hunter Nicodemus led the way with a game-high 17 points. The Eagles high scorer from Tuesday, center Tyler Arrowsmith came in with 15 points in the paint.
Senior Jordan Turner made up the third of three ’Busco players to lead the way with 13 points or more.
Twenty-two more points in the second quarter gave the Eagles 43 points for the first half and a 15-point lead at halftime 43-28.
The lead grew in the second half with a 24-15 advantage for the Eagles in the fourth quarter.
Other Eagle scorers were: Dylan Herendeen 6, Chris Jones 4, Tavin Herendeen 8, Austin Goepfrich 3, Josh LeFever 8.
