Churubusco golf wins three-way

CHURUBUSCO — The Churubusco golf team won a home match Friday night against Lakewood Park and Manchester by shooting a season low 157 at Eel River Friday night. Manchester finished second with a 169 followed by Lakewood Park’s 172.

Ryan Mayer took medalist honors, carding a 38 followed by Parker Conrad’s 39, Beau Barkley and Brad Martin with 40s. Brandon Norris and Jordan Andrews also had solid rounds of 42 and 45, respectively.

The double-win makes the Eagles 5-4 on the year.

On Saturday the ’Busco golf team participated in the Lakeland Invite held at Herron Creek in Lagrange.

The Eagles finished fourth out of nine teams, shooting a 372.

It was a good day for senior Ryan Mayer as he earned top 10 honors with a score of 86, which was good for a seventh-place finish.

Beau Barkley just missed top 10 honors by shooting a 88 and finishing 11th overall.

The Eagles are back in action this week with conference matches against Eastside, Westview, Fairfield and Praire Heights.
