TOPEKA — After various dual matches, weekend tournaments and ranked opponents in his way, senior Braxton Siddons has yet to see a wrestler he hasn’t been able to beat.
Saturday, Siddons was one of three Churubusco Eagles to return from Westview High School with a North East Corner Conference title.
Along with a third-place team finish, Siddons took a unblemished 23-0 record into the day and came away with four more wins to add to his mark.
Seeded No. 1 in his 189 pound weight class, Siddons pinned his way to the finals with no match going farther than the second round.
Siddons and Fairfield’s Jordan Bontrager met in the finals with a close 3-1 decision going ’Busco’s way.
The Eagles other senior, Zack Armstead, came away with a title in the 135 pound weight class.
As the No. 1 seed, Armstead won early rounds 5-2 and 7-2 before beating Falcon Dillon Hinen 9-3 for the title.
At 152 pounds, sophomore Jason Nicodemus upset both the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in his class to win a title. Nicodemus beat Prairie Heights’ Reed Holcomb in the final 3-1.
