City buried under 12 inches of snow

February 6, 2014

Trash pick up is delayed due to a snow storm that dumped 12 inches on the city Tuesday and Wednesday. A common problem for Columbia City residents is getting trash containers to the curb as snow continues to pile up. More winter weather is in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday, but accumulation is expected to be minimal.

COLUMBIA CITY — Another round of winter weather moved through Whitley County, this time dumping 12 inches of snow on the area Wednesday.

According to NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) current snow depth totals for Indiana range from 2 inches in Pike County and 22 inches in Steuben.

Kosciusko County received a foot of snow yesterday as well and Fort Wayne recorded 9.6 inches.

The weather has made a wreck of school calendars and sports schedules.
Last night, Columbia City High School’s boys basketball was set to play Marion, a game that was originally scheduled to play in December.

When weather interrupted the game plan once again, tip off between the two schools was canceled, with no plans to reschedule.
