City explores options with old playset

August 23, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s Parks Department is exploring its options regarding the area of Kids Dreamland, West Van Buren Street.

Parks Director Mark Green said the condition of the playground, that is several years past its lifespan, is continuing to deteriorate.

“Some of the problems are becoming unrepairable,” Green said. “The playground is beyond its years.”

Green said a wooden playset has a 15-year lifespan — Kids Dreamland has surpassed the 20-year mark.

“When Kids Dreamland was constructed, it was a great project,” Green said. “It was purchased and put together by the community.”
