COLUMBIA CITY â€” Police in Columbia City are investigating the death of a five-month-old baby girl Monday morning at 730 Camden Drive.
Neighbors heard a woman screaming and called 911. According to the Columbia City Police Department dispatchers, the call came in around 9:15 a.m.
According to Columbia City Chief of Police Mike Petersen, a decision on whether or not to file charges in the case is â€śpending the report on cause of death.â€ť
An autopsy was being conducted Monday afternoon. Results were not available at press time.
Neighbors heard a woman screaming at the residence and called emergency services.
The woman was reported to be crawling in the doorway of her front door and screaming that her baby was dead.
Columbia City police, as well as investigators from the Whitley County Sheriffâ€™s Department and Indiana State Police were on the scene.
Police said there were pre-cursors for manufacturing methamphetamine at the residence, but at press time there was not yet enough evidence to file charges.
