City soccer wins opening round

COLUMBIA CITY — All the scoring in host Columbia City’s opening match of the IHSAA Girls’ Soccer Sectional against the North Side Lady Redskins came in the first half. The Lady Eagles made the most of their opportunities against an outmanned North Side squad taking a 7-0 win to advance to Saturday afternoon’s finals.

The win advances the Lady Eagles to Saturday afternoon’s 3 p.m. final against the winner of the second semifinal contest that pitted Huntington North against Homestead.
