CITY ZONES: Plan commission approves rezoning

March 7, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — A parcel of land in Columbia City was recommended for rezoning by the Columbia City Plan Commission Monday.

Engineering Management, working on behalf of Wayne Waste Oil Site Potentially Responsible Parties Group (PRP) and the city of Columbia City requested 19.827 acres of land on the east end of Ellsworth Street, in section 11 of Columbia Township, be zoned to I-1, light industrial. Currently the area is zoned A-1, Agricultural district.

The requested rezoning was at the suggestion of the U.S. EPA. The industrial zoning would be consistent with historical, current and future site use, according to Diane E. McCausland, Senior Project Manager at Engineering Management, which is based out of Pittsburgh.
