Clarence Wayne Rosenberger, 83, of Jefferson Township, Whitley County, died at 1:30 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Renaissance Village where he had been a resident since Monday.
He was born Sept. 24, 1927 in Fort Wayne, a son of Clarence Z. and Ruth (Sheets) Rosenberger. As a fifth grader, his family moved to Jefferson Township from Fort Wayne. He graduated from Jefferson Center High School in 1945.
During World War II, he served in the United States Army Air Corps.
On May 18, 1947 he was united in marriage to Janice E. Sever. They moved to their present home in 1950.
He retired in 2005 from grain farming and selling eggs to many throughout Whitley County and the surrounding areas.
His memberships included Laud Christian Church, Columbia City Lodge 189 Free & Accepted Masons, Whitley County Shrine Club and Mizpah Shrine Club. Wayne served on the Laud Fire Department for five years and Jefferson Township Volunteer Fire Department for over 45 years.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Janice; and two children, Vicki (Ted) White of Kewanna and Van (Patricia) Rosenberger of Columbia City; and four grandsons, Jacob and Zachary Rosenberger and Seth (Marla) and Grant White.
He was preceded in death by a stepsister, Betty Kiser.
The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with visitation from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral Home. The burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
