Col. City baseball drops second straight
Austin McCormick crosses home plate after hitting his first home run of the season.
FORT WAYNE — Col-umbia City’s baseball team lost its second game in a row Wednesday night in a shortened game at Northrop High School.
The game ended after the fifth inning due to the 10-run-rule, with the scoreboard showing the Northrop Bruins ahead 16-2.
The loss gives the Eagles a 5-2 record on the season.
The Eagles had four hits, three walks and three strikeouts in 20 plate appearances after five frames, and were unable to knock Bruins pitcher Tyler Huth out of the game.
First baseman Connor Reed hit the Eagles’ lone double and designated hitter Austin McCormick smashed his first home run of the season.
Columbia City will be back in action again on Saturday at West Noble for a double-header.
The first game is set to start at 11 a.m.
