Col. City baseball loses in extra innings, 6-4
COLUMBIA CITY â€” The Eaglesâ€™ baseball team lost in extra innings to Huntington North Friday night in Columbia City.
With the game tied 4-4 at the end of regulation, the Vikings scored two unanswered runs in the top of the eighth to rout the Eagles 6-4.
Connor Reed led the Eagles in hitting, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. Landon Rehrer had two RBIs, a run and a hit in three at-bats. Also recording hits were: Brandon Gay, Connor Slavich, Derek Lamle, Austin McCormick and Jacob Johnson.
Excluding the Vikings two runs in the eighth frame, neither team scored more than one run in an inning for the entire game.
McCormick was the opening pitcher. He gave up seven hits, four runs and three errors to go with his three strike-outs in five innings. Slavich stepped in for almost three frames, recording three strike-outs and gave up four hits and two runs. Lefty Ryan Kershner came in for the final out.
