COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s girls track team fell to both Bellmont and Carroll in a three-way meet Tuesday night.
Carroll took first in the Northeast Hoosier Conference clash with 73 and two-thirds points, followed by Bellmont with 56 and one-third points. Columbia City finished the night with 32 points.
“Carroll and Bellmont are very good,” Columbia City Head Coach Bob Fahl said. “We opted to rest some girls and not have them run multiple events.”
Columbia City’s lone first-place finish came from high jumper Carlee Hearld. Hearld cleared 5 feet, 4 inches. “That was very big for her and our team,” Fahl said.
The 400-meter relay team of Kailyn Miller, Hannah Wappes, Regan Decker and Megan Deutsch finished with a time of 52.1, the fastest time Columbia City has posted in four years, to place second to Carroll.
