WARSAW — Columbia City’s girls golf season opened Monday morning at the same place it ended last year —Stonehenge.
The Lady Eagles were bested by a strong Warsaw team, which opened its season with a score of 184. Columbia City shot a 224. Last season’s sectional match was held at Stonehenge, where both Columbia City and Whitko saw the end of their seasons.
Though as a team the Lady Eagles lost by a significant margin, Columbia City’s No. 1 linkster Jackie Leeuw shot just one-over Warsaw’s medalists with a 45. Lady Tigers Nikke Lalonde and Beth Meadows both fired 44s.
Jessica Klemm was Columbia City’s No. 2 with a 56, followed by Sydney Ford who scored a 61. Allison Yoder had 62 strokes and Bethany Yoder netted a 67.
While Leeuw’s score was competitve with Warsaw, the Lady Tigers showed their depth, with all five varsity linskters scoring under 50.
