Col. City golf wins by one stroke

COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s girls golf home opener at Eagle Glen Tuesday couldn’t have been a tighter match.

The Lady Eagles beat Northeast Hoosier Conference foe Bellmont by one stroke, 194-195.

Jackie Leeuw and Jessica Klemm tied for match medalist for the Lady Eagles, both firing a 46.

Sydney Fort wasn’t far behind, scoring a 48. Allison and Bethany Yoder both shot a 51.

Though there was no official junior varsity match, Columbia City’s Taylor Daniel scored a 47, Mackenzie Lane shot a 48, Cheyenne Johnson finished with a 51 and Athena Arnold had a 55.

Courtney Bacon shot a 60 and Peyton Banks finished with a 64.

Columbia City’s record is now 1-1 and 1-0 in the NHC. The Lady Eagles are back at Eagle Glen tonight, hosting Northrop at 4:30 p.m.
