Col. City names lighting contest winners

COLUMBIA CITY — Officials announced the winners of Columbia City’s lighting contest this week.

While participation in the contest was down this year, City Councilman and contest judge Dan Weigold said the city still has many decorated homes.

“There were a few less participants this year,” Weigold said. “I think it’s due to a combination of things — a late Thanksgiving and poor weather. At the same time, there are still some very beautiful homes.”

This year’s top home has been a winner in the past. Taking overall honors was Mike Christie, who’s decorations stood out from the rest.
