Col. City swim dives into season

OSSIAN — The Columbia City Lady Eagle swim team made a strong season opening appearance at the Norwell Invitational.

The Lady Eagles posted several good times while taking an early lead in the team scoring, before being edged by Bishop Dwenger by only five points for the team title, 267-262.

The Eagles bested teams from Oak Hill, Bellmont, Bluffton, Adams Central and the host Lady Knights from Norwell. Columbia City took wins in several events, including the opening 200-yard medley relay, where the team of Rylee Hackworth, Cassie Bosselman, Katlin Knott and Andrea Richter placed first in 2:01.71.

Richter was a double winner in individual events for the Lady Eagles, taking the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in 1:01.68, beating out teammate Rylee Hackworth who took second at 1:06.77. Richter also claimed first place in the 100-yard butterfly, scoring the win in 1:01.76.
