DECATUR â€” Celine Rongos is still undefeated, and Columbia Cityâ€™s girls tennis team topped Northeast Hoosier Conference opponent Bellmont Friday night.
Rongos swept her opponent, Alysha Helmrich, winning 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles.
The Lady Eagles played 10 matches in seven days, including seven away matches.
â€śIâ€™m very pleased with the girls,â€ť Columbia City Head Coach Kathleen Myers said. â€śThey finished off strong during a very long week of tennis.â€ť
The Lady Eagles evened out their record at 7-7, and are 3-2 in the NHC.
In No. 3 singles against Bellmont, Adriana Brown topped her opponent 6-1, 6-2.
The No. 1 doubles team of Sydney Ford and Macie Hinen won a long match. Columbia Cityâ€™s duo won the first set 6-4, but fell in the second set 6-4. Hinen and Ford came back in the third to win 6-3 and take the match.
Breanna Hicks and Alaina Beckner won the No. 2 doubles match, 6-1, 6-0.
Columbia Cityâ€™s Kennedy Slavicek suffered the lone loss, falling 6-4, 6-2 to Kylie Beery of Bellmont in No. 2 singles.
Junior varsity winners include: Lauren Rivas, Rachel Flauding and Katie Doehrmann in singles, and the doubles team of Bayley Smith and Cassie Bosselman.View more articles in:
