COLUMBIA CITY â€” Columbia Cityâ€™s girls tennis team beat county-rival Whitko in a close 3-2 match Monday night.
The Lady Eagles picked up wins in No. 1 singles and both doubles matches, while Whitko was victorious in No. 2 and No. 3 singles, making the match competitive.
Though the score was close, Columbia City scored its three wins from lopsided matches.
In No. 1 singles, Celine Rongos took a 6-0, 6-4 win over Whitkoâ€™s Laura Alfieri.
The No. 1 doubles team of Macie Hinen and Sydney Ford won 6-2, 6-1 over Abby Marshall and Erin Murphy of Whitko.
Columbia Cityâ€™s No. 2 doubles team, Breanna Hicks and Alaina Beckner, defeated Candice Swick and Makayla Findley 6-4, 6-1.
