Col. City tennis wins

Columbia City’s girls tennis team picked up a win in a long week of matches over a Northeast Hoosier Conference foe. The Lady Eagles downed New Haven 3-2 Thursday night, with wins in No. 2 singles and both doubles matches.

Aubrey Wright won a long No. 2 singles match. After winning the first set 6-4, she fell in a long 7-6 (7-3) second set, but came back in the final set to win 6-4.

In No. 1 doubles, Sydney Ford and Macie Hinen picked up a 6-3, 6-0 victory. The No. 2 doubles team of Cassie Bosselman and Bayley Smith also took a 6-3, 6-0 win.

In No. 1 singles, Rachel Flauding fell to New Haven’s Taylor Erdly, 6-2, 6-3. In No. 3 singles, Maddy Minnick fell in a long match.
After falling 6-4 in the first set, she retaliated in the second to win a long set, 7-6 (7-4). In a close third set, she fell 6-4 to take the loss.

In junior varsity action, winners include Bailee Glass and Alyssa Jacobs in singles, and the doubles team of Mackenzie Lane and Katie Weigel.
The Lady Eagles are now 6-5 and 3-2 in the Northeast Hoosier Conference.
Columbia City is back in action tonight at Whitko.
