COLUMBIA CITY — Despite rallying to get the score within five in the last four minutes, Churubusco lost to Columbia City Tuesday night, 52-43.
Whitley County’s Eagles gave the fans their money’s worth, with Churubusco cutting a 25-17 deficit into a three-point game in the third quarter.
The Eagles traded baskets in the first two minutes of the game, until Columbia City’s Brandon Gay knocked down a three to give the home team a 5-4 advantage.
Churubusco’s game plan was to alter the pace of Columbia City’s quick tempo.
“We needed to slow the game down,” Churubusco Head Coach Mike McBride said. “They have too many shooters. We had to make them play defense. We were trying to make them play at our pace.”
