Whitley County’s Eagle golf teams battled it out at Eel River Golf Course Wednesday night in the competitive county golf match.

While Whitko posted a competitive score of 179, Churubusco and Columbia City had standout performances, with the match coming down to four strokes.

Columbia City had its best score of the season, a 148, to edge Churubusco, which finished with 152 strokes.

Both teams finished the match with several players scoring less than 40.
“We were fortunate to come out with the win,” said Columbia City Head Coach Andrew Thompson. “Churubusco is having a good season and played very well on their home course.”

With sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 70s, weather was, for one of the first times this season, not a factor in the match.
