Col. City wins Wawasee Invite

SYRACUSE — Hall of Fame catcher Yogi Berra is often quoted as saying “It ain’t over ‘til it’s over.”

But at Saturday’s Super Duals wrestling tournament at Wawasee High School, even after it was over, it wasn’t over.

Columbia City’s match with host Wawasee and the tournament championship had to be decided on the eighth-criteria tiebreaker.

When the dust cleared, the Eagles picked up the win over the Warriors and completed a perfect 5-0 day to take the tournament championship.

Langeloh, Trabert, Hazelet and Anglin all finished the day undefeated for the Eagles while Greg Newman went unbeaten for the Whitko Wildcats, who went 2-3 for the day. Newman was also named the tournament’s outstanding wrestler
