Columbia City golf records best score of the season, 172

April 20, 2012

COLUMBIA CITY — Though Columbia City’s golf team faced its fourth loss of the season, the Eagles recorded their best overall score of the season Thursday night at Eagle Glen against Canterbury.

Columbia City lost 160-172 to the Cavaliers, but the score of 172 was encouraging, according to Eagle Head Coach Andrew Thompson.

The season-best score came amidst three Eagle linksters shooting over eight strokes on the ninth hole.

Even with five or six strokes knocked off their score, the Eagles would have had a hard time beating Canterbury, which is considered one of the top teams in the state.

Canterbury’s Ethan Brinkman was the medalist with a 37.
Columbia City’s top golfer was Dustin Parrett with a 41. Max Dryer and Derek Philbee were two strokes behind with 43s. Trent Murphy rounded off the Eagles’ top five with a 45.
