‘Columbia City’s not going to give up’

December 13, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — After close games, many coaches don’t speak very highly of the opposing team.

It was quite the opposite for Norwell’s Head Coach Eric Thornton, when he spoke of Friday night’s game against Columbia City’s girls basketball team.
“Columbia City’s not going to give up,” Thornton said.

If effort heart could win the game, the Lady Eagles could’ve walked out of the gym with a second conference win Friday night.

Unfortunately, though, Norwell (5-1) held on through a roller coaster fourth quarter to win, 50-46, and pick up its first Northeast Hoosier Conference win.

Columbia City suffered its second loss of the season. The Lady Eagles fell in overtime to Leo, and played competitively with the Lady Knights, who are ranked fourth in Class 3A.
