SOUTH WHITLEY — Somewhere there are probably people with Whitko and Columbia City loyalties who speak kindly of each other and may even at most times be downright friendly to each other, but once the two meet in an athletic contest — no matter whether it is volleyball, basketball, or even a spirited game of tiddley winks — neither wants to be on the downhill side of the final score. Friday night the two Whitley County football rivals met at Whitko’s Ryan Huff Memorial field.
Visiting Columbia City used a balanced ground and aerial attack and an opportunistic defense which caused six fumbles and an interception and got two points of its own on a safety to hand the host Wildcats a 43-13 loss.
